What residents actually do
Senior Activities at Our Montrose Retirement Community
A full-time activity director, daily programming, and a property people actually go outside in.

What is there to do here?
Something is organized every day: social events, trips and outings around Montrose, on-site entertainment, exercise classes, educational talks, arts and crafts, music and gardening. Residents join what interests them and skip what doesn't — the calendar is an offer, not a schedule, which is the difference between a 55+ community and a facility.
There's a library, a crafts room, a common room with a television and a family room for visits. Outside there are walking paths, garden plots and the pond.

What is taken care of for residents?
Housekeeping and laundry are handled for you, and so is every repair — nobody here is calling a plumber. There's also a laundry room for residents who prefer to do their own.
- Housekeeping and laundry
- All repairs and maintenance
- Wi-Fi and Dish cable in every suite
- Group outings, trips and on-site entertainment
- An on-site barber shop, with services monthly
- 24-hour surveillance of the premises
- A furnished guest apartment for visiting family
The guest apartment is worth knowing about if your family is spread out. Relatives can stay on the property rather than book a hotel in town, and we only ask for a donation toward the activities fund.
What if a resident needs more help than this?
Spring Creek Chalet is an independent retirement community with no medical staff on site. Residents who need more support bring in their own private caregiver, arranged with us according to what that person needs. Many families do this so a parent can stay in the same suite, with the same neighbors, rather than move again.
If you're weighing what level of support your parent needs now versus in two years, that's worth a conversation on the phone — call 970-249-2438.
Common questions
Are there organized activities every day?
Yes. Something is organized every day, including exercise classes, arts and crafts, music, educational talks, gardening, on-site entertainment and trips and outings around Montrose. Residents join what interests them and skip what doesn't. Nobody is put on a schedule they didn't choose, which is the point of independent living.
Is housekeeping included?
Yes. Housekeeping and laundry are both included in the monthly rate, and so is every repair and maintenance job on the property. There is also a laundry room available for residents who would rather do their own washing. Wi-Fi and Dish cable are included in every suite as well.
Can a resident bring in outside caregivers?
Yes. Spring Creek Chalet has no medical staff on site, and residents are welcome to arrange their own private caregivers, coordinated with us according to individual needs. This lets many people stay in the same suite, with the same neighbors and the same routine, as their needs change over time.
Is there a barber on site?
Yes. There is a barber shop on the property, with services available monthly, so residents don't need to arrange a trip into town for a haircut. It is one of several things kept on site specifically so that not having a car stops being a problem for anybody living here.
Can visiting family stay on the property?
Yes. There is a furnished guest apartment on site for residents' families to use while visiting, and we only ask for a donation toward the activities fund. For families spread across several states, it means relatives can stay on the property for a few days instead of booking a hotel in Montrose.
